Nature's Little Wonders

If you've seen my work, you know how much nature inspires me, but it also amazes me how it can stop me right in my tracks in the midst of jewelry-making chaos. I've been frantically working at getting my inventory and display ready for two great upcoming shows, the Dunwoody Art Festival, right outside of Atlanta, Ga this coming weekend, and the Art2Wear show at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, May 24th-26th.

In the midst of it all, a sweet little mourning dove couple decided that one of our bushes was the perfect place to make a nest.  The female sits in it every day, and I can't help but check on her -with the hopes of one day seeing her baby birds.  I stop every time I walk past it, and forget how busy I am.

And seeing this nest also makes me feel good about my little nest necklaces.  I don't make my bird nest necklaces look perfect.  They are never perfectly round, never woven evenly, and sometimes I even set the pearl eggs I use a little off to the side of the nest.  I want my bird nest necklaces to look organic and imperfect, much like this little nest here.  And to my eyes at least, it's imperfection is perfect.
